Upstate Power House was started by Cristina Payton and Michelle Iduate, two former collegiate softball players who spent four years coaching high school and travel softball before opening the facility. Softball isn't an add-on here. It's where we started.
Our softball coaches bring that same experience to every lesson: an NCAA pitcher who threw 329 innings at Savannah State, a Division I infielder from BYU, and an All-Conference slapper from North Greenville University who grew up right here in Duncan. They coach the details that matter in a real game, and explain them in a way young players understand.
Lessons take place in our 60-foot indoor cages, with a softball pitching mat for pitchers and HitTrax on site for hitters who want to see their exit velocity and launch angle. Whether your player is just learning to throw strikes or getting ready for a college showcase, each lesson is planned around where they are today and what they need next.

Pitching
Mechanics, spin, pitch sequencing and arm care, so pitchers stay effective and healthy deep into a weekend tournament.
Hitting
Swing fundamentals, timing and approach at the plate, built step by step for each player.
Slap Hitting
The short game: footwork, bunting and slapping for left-handed hitters who want to use their speed.

Infield footwork, glove work and throwing, plus position-specific reps.

Pitching Coach
Alisyn Ferrell is a former NCAA collegiate pitcher and travel ball coach specializing in elite rubber endurance, mechanical consistency, and mental fortitude. A true workhorse in the circle, Alisyn logged 329.0 innings at Savannah State University, pitching 45 complete games in 55 career starts. With 3 years of competitive coaching experience across all age groups, she translates her firsthand collegiate success into actionable development for the travel circuit. Alisyn specializes in teaching tactical pitch sequencing, advanced spin design, and customized arm-care protocols that keep pitchers healthy and effective deep into Sunday bracket play. From youth beginners to college-bound recruits, she builds durable athletes with the mindset to finish games.

With over a decade of high-level playing experience, Alyssa brings a passion for the game and a commitment to helping athletes grow both on and off the field. She played Division I softball at Brigham Young University from 2018 to 2023 while earning a degree in Global Supply Chain Management. As an instructor, she specializes in hitting and all infield positions. She takes pride in teaching the fundamentals with energy, attention to detail, and a player-first approach.

Ansley Fowler
Slap Hitting & Fielding
A Duncan, South Carolina native, Ansley Fowler built a standout career at Byrnes High School, earning All-State, two-time All-Region, and North-South All-Star honors. She took her talents to North Greenville University, where she became a premier, highly disciplined slapper known for her relentless work ethic and elite consistency at the plate. Ansley's mastery of the short game culminated in a spectacular senior season, where she earned First Team All-Conference Carolinas honors after terrorizing defenses to the tune of a .407 batting average, 68 hits, and 33 RBIs—while striking out just six times all year. Now, Ansley channels that same passion into coaching travel softball. Specializing in the fundamentals of the game and the nuances of slapping, she is dedicated to helping young athletes grow both on and off the field by building confidence, leadership, and a championship work ethic in every player.

Softball Lesson FAQs
How much are softball lessons?
Private softball lessons start at $35 for 30 minutes. Each coach's 30- and 60-minute prices are listed above. A small card processing fee is added when you pay online.
What ages do you coach?
Every lesson is one-on-one and built around the player in front of the coach, from young players learning the basics to travel ball and high school athletes.
Should we book 30 or 60 minutes?
Thirty minutes works well for younger players or a focused tune-up on one skill. Sixty minutes leaves time to warm up, work on a skill in depth and finish with live reps.
What is your cancellation policy?
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your lesson. You can manage a booking online with the link in your confirmation email.

Upstate Power House is at 552 Mayfield Rd, Suite D, Duncan, SC 29334, minutes off I-85 Exit 60. Families come from Duncan, Lyman, Wellford, Greer, Moore, Spartanburg and Taylors.
